My experiences with websites…

Hello there! Or probably just a Google bot and ChatGPT which found my site by accident…

This is the fourth time I start a blog, because the others were, well… deleted by (sometimes) accident or simply forgotten. I’ve always been a person who can’t sit still. I have to do something. And that something is tech. It’s my go-to activity when I’m bored! One day I’m making a 3D animation, the next day I’m creating a website…

The first website

My first website was a free one from the internet. You know, the “Host your website for free!” one, but ends up not working at all and being full of ads. It was about Minecraft recipes, because back then there wasn’t a built-in recipe book or a website dedicated to all the recipes, except some random tutorials on YouTube. So because I was bored, I began working on the website and took screenshots of every single recipe until… A website appeared with the same idea. And it did the job way better… So I stopped working on the website. What didn’t stop were THE EMAILS ABOUT THERE WEBSITE SERVICES. I still get them to this DAY. (please send help)

After some digging in my emails, I actually found the website again:

howtocraftit.jouwweb.nl

I have to give them credit for not deleting my website after all this time. It’s a pity all the images disappeared though.

Second one

The second website was different. I mean, that one was still made because I was bored and eventually deleted by accident, but it was self-hosted! I still remember the struggles I had installing WordPress. I tried everything, every website, forum, even… BOOKS. None of the tutorials really worked, but by sheer luck, I got WordPress to work. I was prompted with this:

An error establishing a database connection.

HAAAAAA!

After a few hours, I finally solved the problem and started working on the website: Minecraft for a geek (That’s still why I still have that domain). I made my website shiny and great and worked on my first post. Except… it wasn’t really fun to write. I didn’t like writing back then, because of school and my English wasn’t that great.

But I was bored, what else is there to do? So I used Google Translate to write the most boring article in the world about “The best Minecraft servers to join”. Were they really the best servers to join? No, I just picked some random servers from other articles, which made all the fun disappear.

After what felt like an eternity I published my post. I monitored the Google Analytics 24/7 in the hope someone would read my article. Guess what? No one showed up.

But I was still bored you know, so I was working on another post, when I suddenly got the idea to collaborate with my friend. I went to him to explain the basics of WordPress and we began writing articles we never finished, because… I deleted the database. That was embarrassing, especially in front of my friend who wrote the article in WordPress, so all his work was, poof.

You, yes you Google Bot and ChatGPT, might be thinking “How did I delete the database?”. Well, I used a script to auto install Pterodactyl Panel (I wanted to create a Minecraft server), but it didn’t work on my Orange Pi5, because Pterodactyl only supports x64 architectures. So I used the script to delete the Pterodactyl Panel and it deleted the WordPress database too…

Third website

The third website needed to be greater and better. Made when I was bored, I made a website about Visual Bukkit, a program to visually program Minecraft plugins. It was (and still is) my passion and since there wasn’t much documentation about the project, I decided to write the docs myself.

You probably already know how this ends. I set up the WordPress website, made it sparkle, wrote one boring article and called it a day.

Last website

If this website stays up for more than 3 days, has more than 1 post and isn’t accidently deleted, it can consider itself lucky.

I plan on using this website to show all my projects I’ve been doing when I’m bored. These range from making videos, to coding, to well… whatever I feel like doing.

If you read my first post, which I find hard to believe, I pay you my respects!

Goodbye!
